A new festival is hitting the Ravenswood area this June! Metropia Chicago, started by Chicago based BAO promotions, aims at combining music, local art, and innovative technology into a small-scale, intimate experience. This revolutionary festival will be both an aural and visual experience meshing live-electronic scenes and art installations with “underground jam” music. First-time attendees (as everyone will be) can expect to leave Metropia changed – having experienced a real-life collage of new sights and sounds. The musical moments at Metropia will feature: On Thursday, June 7 Marina City – Not the well-know buildings, Marina City is a mix of rock, electronica, and pop. J. Crist – A rapper and Hip Hop artist best known for Gimme a Minute. Santah – Known for their 2010 album, White Noise Bed, Santah is uses vocals as instruments in a way much like Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, or The Morning Benders. Famous Like You – A pop band whose catchy lyrics and melodies will surely start a Metropia dance party. Take The Day – A local rock band that aims to be “radio friendly.” The Pirates – A punk band not associated with Chicago baseball nostalgia. Milano – A band that can make rock out of violins, accordions, and four vocalists. R.O.E. – Rising Over Envy, releases The Radiant Child EP today, May 31st. The Bears Of Blue River – off their 2011 release Dames, Bears are a friendly group of folk enthousiasts. Dozens –This indie band’s racous combination of 80s’ synths, dance-y beats, and MGMT-ish intros makes for one catchy setlist. The Lucky Dutch – A very new, bluesy band whose facebook indicates future plans to “start writing and recording.”
